Well developed programmes support 'A' level Geography and Biology and Humanities at Key Stage Three.
Where do we do our field studies?
The Centre is located in a superb rural setting on the edge of the Brecon Beacons, providing a wide variety of contrasting landscapes and habitats, which make the area ideal for Geography and Biology Field Studies.
We have our own Nature Reserve, ponds, river and meadows. Mountain, moorland and woodland are all around, and reaching the coast is feasible.
The area includes spectacular archaeological remains from the Neolithic onwards, fine castles and historical buildings.
The Centre itself includes part of a Roman fort, a Norman castle and a mediaeval village. Nearby industrial South Wales is rich in opportunities for Industrial Archaeology and Urban and Human Geography.
The excellent variety of rural study sites in and around the National Park is complimented by the city of Hereford and equidistant market towns of Abergavenny and Hay-on-Wye.
Will I need any specialist equipment?
We can provide a large classroom equipped with a wide range of facilities for studies in earth sciences, including a computer, stereo microscopes and meters for monitoring a range of environmental conditions.
