OK, so you can navigate your way around the Internet, but how about the real world? How about a mountainside or a forest, perhaps in the dark? Well the answer is you can do it, given the right tuition and support.
Orienteering is high-speed decision making; is it this stream or that stream?
Will fighting through the forest really be quicker than the long way round on tracks? Have we time to find one more marker? |

All while the clock is ticking away. You and your partner want to do your best, but you know how penalty points pile up if you miss the deadline time.
It's a fine balance, and it's your decision that really counts.
Who can go orienteering?
Anyone and everyone can go orienteering. Given the right tuition and support from our qualified and experienced instructional team you can navigate your way to winning the competition.
Where do we go orienteering?
We have 2 orienteering courses available to us. One of which is on the centre grounds. It uses up all 15 acres of the grounds, some markers are easier to find than others and the competition can be varied according to the group.
Two other orienteering courses are located in the Mynydd Du Forest about 30 minutes drive away. These courses are slightly larger in more difficult surroundings. A lot of the forest looks the same so it is crucial that you take note of paths, stream junctions and all the detail the map gives you.
Will I need any specialist equipment?
We’ll provide you with everything you need. All you really need is a map and a compass. If we are running the activity at night it would be a good idea to bring a torch and warm clothing.
